Tips for Letters
  • Letters are due to the BMZA by March 6, 2020
  • Include  the Appeal Number  2013-29
  • Royal Farms may build a convenience store “by right.”  However, they need a “conditional use” permit for a gas station.
  • Zoning law says that if the 5-way Glenmore/ Harford intersection is dangerous, and would be problematic for a gas station, the BMZA should deny the permit.
  • Royal Farms wishes to build an 8-12 pump gas station, the size of a city block, and on the scale of a highway sized rest-stop gas station.  NOROFO argues that this large gas station development would definitely pose a problem at this intersection!
  • The City of Baltimore and the State of Maryland have invested ½ million dollars into pedestrian- friendly traffic calming measures, which are out of alignment with a highway-sized gas station.
  • The BMZA requests letters from the community pertaining to the intersection of Glenmore / Harford. Please highlight any dangerous observations or experiences pertaining to that intersection (after 2015).  Is this intersection dangerous today? If so, Royal Farms should not be granted a conditional use permit for a gas station!
